Products

All our Eco Workshop products are made here in Founex. Rachel is our soap maker and Justyna is our master crocheter. For everything else, we do our best to source items as close to home as possible, sometimes this isn’t always possible. In which case we try to work with businesses that are doing good in their local area, are staying as close to the source of raw materials as possible, and have a transparent supply chain. For more information, please read our Meet The Partners blog to find out more about where your purchase has come from.

Nope! The base for plastic is carbon whereas the base material for silicon is silicon derived from quartz.

The Organicup is made of 100% soft medical grade silicone, and the Elephant Box has a food-safe silicone rim on the Elephant Box Leakproof Lunchbox.

In virtually all toothbrushes available on the market, small hooks made of stainless steel fix the bristles in the head. These hooks must not be composted. However the handle can be, just snap the head off and trash first. Bioplastic alternatives, such as the castor oil-based bristles in our RICINE toothbrushes, are based on renewable plant-based oils. However, due to the lengthy degradation periods, they do not fall under the composability criteria for house compost waste.

Unfortunately, for the SOFT bristles, there is currently no compostable alternative to nylon other than animal-based materials such as wild boar hair. However, this material fails to perform both from an environmental and the hygienic point of view: the hair comes from industrial farms, often located in China, and is hollow, which provides the perfect breeding ground for bacteria.
